Patti M. Fox
I have been working with water-based clay for over 30 years, after falling in love with the medium while taking a 1987 night class offered by WITC. Largely self-taught, I have acquired and utilized a large library of books, videos and DVDs to facilitate my continuing education, along with all the equipment needed to pursue this passion. Over the years I have attended numerous night classes, camps and week-long workshops. I have learned directly from UW River Falls instructors Kurt Wild and Randy Johnson. I studied with renowned sculptors Eugene Daub, Jeremy Cox and (the late) Stanley Bleifeld at the Scotsdale Artists School.
I chose to narrow the focus of my work with clay to human figurative and portrait sculpture after an exceptionally rewarding week in 2016 spent studying with Master of Portraiture Phillipe Faraut at his New York training studio. In June of 2018 I will be attending a week long workshop at the Indianapolis Center for the Arts, studying with hyper-realist sculptor Tip Toland. I hope to bring home knowledge from that experience which will help me expand my palette of surface treatments.
